I have been searching out and purchasing a few vintage Florida themed postcards in the past month or so. There’s something really cool about the old style of postcards. They just can’t be recreated today, in my opinion. I mean, they technically can, but they just aren’t the same.
Anyways, here’s one of them I have with a map of Florida with cities and attractions labeled. I don’t know the exact date of publication but I know that Disney World opened on Oct. 1, 1971 and it is labeled on here. It does appear that the font is different for “Disney World.” Like perhaps they used an old illustration and updated it with DW when publishing this card.
No matter though, it’s fun to see all of them. They are not super easy to find so far though. I gotta find something like a warehouse for a postcard factory that has been closed for years then someone buys the building and starts going through all the contents and finds a treasure trove of old vintage postcards but just wants to get rid of them and will send them to me. It’s likely to happen.
If you have some, send them my way. Contact me for a good address to send them to. Make sure to not write on the back of it when you send it, put it in an envelope!
